Historical Policies, Acts and Events 8. REX PARTHIS DATVS. Osroes I, ruler of Parthia, placed a king on the Armenian throne, an act which angered Trajan. What followed was a military action in which Trajan annexed Armenia, invaded Mesopotamia, and then conquered Parthia and appointed a king.
This reverse depicts Trajan seated on platform with attendant. Parthia kneels in front with hands outstretched in attitude of begging: Trajan with arm outstetched offers her a new king-Parthamaspates.
