Parthian Campaign 7. Imperator VIII & VIIII IMP(erator) before the name of the ruler is the title emperor. When used after the emperor's name, usually at the end of his titles it indicated the number of victories won by the emperor. Trajan was hailed Imperator once on his adoption in 97, three times in 102-3, twice in 105-6, and seven times between 113-117. IMP VII is depicted on a gold aureus and IMP VIII and IMP VIIII are depicted on sestertii.
This reverse depicts Trajan seated , 2 attendants at his side, addressing a group of 3-7 soldiers with standards (2-4) and a horse among them. This same reverse was used on both the IMPERATOR VIII and VIIII sestertii
